Reply to this post with anything you'd like and I'll tell you why I friended you and two things I love about how you play your muse. The only catch? You have to repost this as well.

Ooooh, the mood thing part was added by me in reaction to that silly picture. It's not part of the meme. Sorry!

But do me please!

Haha, oh I know, I just copied and pasted it.

I've never seen the show FotC, but Jemaine cracks me up. I ended up watching a bunch of clips on youtube after reading some of your muse's posts.

I think you capture his quirkiness well. He's not stupid per se, just off, and the way you write him conveys that. It'd be easy just to make him seem like a run of the mill goofball but you don't. His brand of humor/world view is pretty specific and unique.

I personally like reading him because he's funny. Abby friended him because she sort of likes look at train wrecks from a distance and his conversations with other characters are sort of like that for her.

I'm also really impressed that you write both Jemaine and Jack who are so completely different from each other and yet you handle them both well. (I love Lost)

Awww, thanks for all the compliments! They're making me want to hug things!

If you're ever bored and feel like renting something, the first season of FotC is on DVD. Youtube is really awesome, but the show is even better in context.

He is kind of hard to explain. He's self-conscious while full of himself, optimistic that the band is good enough to make it big but pretty negative about most other things, and really really in need of people skills. Yet somehow he's got this strange kind of charm. I fell in love with all that about the character then when I took him up I was like "O_O this is much more difficult than I thought it would be." Your compliments are very reinforcing because I still make that shocked face at the computer.

It's a rarity that I post with both Jack and Jem on the same day. They're so different that I really need to be in the "zone" so to speak.

OMG A FELLOW LOSTIE! This excites me so much! Are you gonna be watching the premiere? I feel like I've been waiting ages!

I've been rewatching season 3 on DVD to be ready for next week! There's a pop-up episode on Wednesday and then, OMGYAY! Thursday. I'm unspoiled except that I know how many new episodes there are in the can, but so so so excited.

[identity profile] mutha-flippin.livejournal.com on January 26th, 2008 11:23 pm (UTC)
Oh I have been too! Ben scares me more and more everytime I see him. And have you watched the webisodes on ABC.com? Some are really good, the one with Jack and Ben playing chess gives me chills.

And duuuude I didn't know about the pop-up episode!

Ben is so creepy. He weirds me out more than anything the island may or may not be. I've only seen the webisode with Jack's watch. I need to catch up.

About the episode for Wednesday. :)

Yeah you should, some of them are really good.

Thanks!

I know they haven't been friends for very long, so do it for me only if you feel like you can. :D

Abby friended Murphy because she's a kindred spirit of sorts. Besides their shared AA status, they are both sarcastic and at time caustic. And women in what are traditionally male careers. She can identify with those parts of Murphy.

1. You have Murphy's voice down so well. I haven't seen the show in so long but between the speech patterns and turns of phrase and the way you write her replies to other muses, she just sounds in character.

2. You handle the humor of the show and balance it with some more serious content. Murphy's prompt reply to what she's afraid of comes to mind there. You make her human.

I like that about them, too. They're so different, but if you dig deeper they turn out to be so alike. :)

1. AWWW, thank you so much! I'm always so worried about that, and I'm always afraid that I'm overdoing all the inflections. It really means a lot to hear that. :D

2. Again, thank you so much. I worry about this, too. I'm also beginning to understand why there may not be a lot of sitcom characters around here; it's kind of hard to be serious and keep them human when the show's got a laugh track. I really want to be able to bring in more serious stuff for Murphy, though, 'cause she's got so much depth that I haven't even begun to explore.

You're welcome. And you're right, it really is a tricky balance but you're good at it.

Me, me, me!
[identity profile] abbytude.livejournal.com on January 27th, 2008 06:28 am (UTC)
No, no, no!

Oh, okay...

Friended because I so love the show and his intro post in RotM (and the exchange with Abby) was too amusing.

1. The first prompt was SO Chandler/the rest of the friends that it's not even funny. Could have very easily been viewing part of an episode with that one.

2. You have Chandler's peculiar voice inflection down pat. It really makes him him in a way. I also like that you keep him fun and light but have the room to get into the more serious side of him if you want to.

They say curiosity killed that cat, but...

I did friend you first, one of your other Highlander characters, actually. I love the show and one of his prompt responses caught my attention.

1. I'm kind of lumping them together but...I love that within the fandom you write some very diverse characters but they each have their unique voice. Kronos sounds like Kronos and Darius is himself. That has to be a real challenge to juggle multiple characters even if some of them are prompt only.

2. You use Darius to delve into so many sides of the character, or any character that has existed as long as he has. He's been through so many incarnations of himself and you don't avoid what he was in the past. I think it would be easy to say "oh he's a priest" and leave it at that, but you don't. You explore the darkness that was there before the light and with his current storyline with Inez he's evolving beyond his show canon and it's a natural progression that rings true.

*beams* For the love of cheese cubes?
[identity profile] abbytude.livejournal.com on February 10th, 2008 10:16 am (UTC)
Mmm cheese cubes.

Friended because Abby had Jem on her flist all ready and I am slowly falling in love with their goofy music and your muses.

1. I love how very Bret he is. It's too funny to watch you and Jem mun interact.

2. I wish I'd have known your muse longer before trying to fill this out, but I really do get a laugh out of his antics and can't wait to see what you guys cook up for this gala thing.
